The Apple Watch will start shipping in April this year, said Tim Cook at the company's Q1 2015 call. Earlier timeframe for the wearable was described as "early 2015." Details of the watch including the battery-life, are yet not officially revealed.

"I'm using it every day, and love it, and I can't live without it," Cook said on the call. He also defended the April timeframe as within Apple's deigned "early 2014" range.

The decision to pre-announce the Apple Watch allowed developers to get on board with the platform and by the time it actually hit shelves, users might have some quality apps on their wrists.

Cook was speaking during a conference call to discuss Apple's earnings that has sailed past expectations. Sales of iPhones and Macs helped its revenue soar to US$74.6 billion for the quarter ended Dec. 27, up from $57.6 billion a year earlier.

With all this, Cook is leading Apple to largest profit of any company in history. With sales of $74.6 billion, the company posted a profit of $18 billion-the largest profit in corporate history. Just to add - it isn't only the largest profit Apple's ever seen, it's the largest profit any corporation has ever seen.
