Adam Koesler, a resident of Cairns Australia, has been detained in prison since the Christmas holidays for giving his dying two-year-old Rumer Rose Maujean medicinal cannabis oil said to have miraculously increased her survival. Weeks later, nearly 50,000 people signed a petition pleading for some changes in Koesler's bail conditions, Mirror reports.

As of Sunday, 50,000 people are reported to have signed the petition calling for Queensland premier Campbell Newman and justice minister Jarrod Bleijie to hear the people's pleas.

Parts of the petition said, "It is inhumane and unjust to keep a parent, who acted out of love for his child [and] wanting to prolong her life, away from her during such severe illness."

Further, the petitioners mentioned the legalization of the use of cannabis in some countries as it has shown beneficial effects to cancer patients without side effects. Further, the report cited that cannabis even helped alleviate pain and side effects from conventional medicine.

A sum of $3,000 has also been raised for Adam's legal expenses.

According to Intellihub, Rumer Rose has been diagnosed with stage IV neuroblastoma cancer which usually attacks kids five years and below damaging their nervous systems.

Despite the planned several chemotherapy sessions, doctors from the Lady Cliento Children's Hospital only announced a 50% survival of the patient to parents Adam and Sacha Maujean.

In the hope of increasing her daughter's survival, Koesler resorted to high-CBD and low- or no-THC cannabis oil. He is also said to have mixed cannabis oil with coconut oil.

Reports from Metro UK said that the hopeful dad witnessed signs of improvement in his daughter's condition particularly on the improvement of her appetite, weight, skin color and motor coordination.

"She would say 'Daddy, tummy's NOT SORE.' She would be able to eat like a champion and began to gain weight, her energy was up... [and] [h]er skin colour came back, her eyes were sparkling again. Rumer's delightful behavior was restored," Koesler testified.

He also shared the incident on his Facebook saying, "Fearless Father" that "Her cancer-ridden little body was ALIVE AGAIN - Rumer had almost instant quality of life."

Adam was, earlier, arrested in Brisbane with his case filed in the Child Protection Unit for supplying a minor with illegal drugs.

Koesler's wife, meanwhile, shows no support for Adam and claimed that the drugs did not improve her daughter's condition.

"It is true he has been arrested for supplying a dangerous drug to a minor and I support the Child Protection Unit's decision to arrest him and charge him," she wrote the message in her GoFundMe page where she also wants to raise funds for Rumer.
