A "Pokémon GO" Christmas event hasn't been confirmed yet, but speculations are rife about the special occasion. What should players expect from the highly anticipated Christmas event?

The game's Halloween event provided special bonuses to players and increased the number of specific Pokémon spawns. The "Pokémon GO" Christmas event is expected to be in the same vein, but this time will boost Ice-type Pokémon spawns instead such as Lapras, one of the game's strongest Gym attackers and defenders.

"Pokémon GO" players may need lots of PokéBalls to catch Lapras, which has a capture rate of 16 percent and a flee rate of nine percent, Ranked Boost noted. This is why trainers need to stock up on PokéBalls if they want to get themselves a Lapras. The Pokémon can also be acquired through a 10 KM Egg, but even that is difficult to acquire and hatch.

What's the best way to save PokéBalls in "Pokémon GO?" One trick is to stop yourself from trying to catch every monster that appears on your screen in the wild. PokéBalls should be thrown wisely and with careful consideration.

Otakukart advised "Pokémon GO" players to improve their aim so the PokéBalls won't be wasted. It's best to avoid curveball throws if you're not a pro in throwing PokéBalls yet. If a Pokémon appears too far away from the screen, "Pokémon GO" trainers should try turning the AR mode on and off so the app will automatically reset the monster to the center of the screen. For catching Flying-type Pokémon such as Dragonite and Golbat, players should steady their devices before throwing a PokéBall.

Heavy speculated that the "Pokémon GO" Christmas event will be launched on Wednesday, Dec. 21. That date follows the timeframe that the other special events rolled out. The Halloween event was launched on Oct. 26 and the Thanksgiving event was unveiled on Nov. 23. Both of those dates fell on the Wednesday before the actual holiday.

Niantic's latest "Pokémon GO" update introduced new Generation 2 Pokémon and Santa hat Pikachu and Raichu. It remains to be seen what other features will be added by the Christmas event.
