Pokémon Go: Exercise Impact 'Short Lived'; Study Revealed That It's A Troubling Concern

The Pokemon Go is found to have several adverse impacts on behavior and health of its player. Harvard University study shows that it only gives minimal impact compared to the regular exercise for the body.

It is true that the Pokémon Go requires extensive running in the quest to catch all the imaginary creatures. It also deals with physical moves that may soon lead to hurting others or inflict self-harm. These are the few finding that the study reached.

Restrained Impact In Physical Exercise

The research writes, "Pokémon Go has been suggested to improve public health by promoting physical activity. In our study population, however, the results indicate that the health impact of Pokémon Go might be moderate."

It means that the player gets less than what is required exercise their body needs. If this goes on, there are possible results of having an unhealthy body. Pokémon Go also results in traffic accidents and injuries caused on the road while playing.

The study comprised of 560 Pokemon Go players within the age bracket of 18-35. They use the iPhone 6 as the phone automatically counts every step that the player make in hunting the imaginary creatures.

Potentials With Pokémon Go

Global craze grew popularly because of the remarkable number of downloads Pokemon Go Application got since July last year. However, there is also a noticeable drop of players playing Pokemon Go.

Respective governments around the globe drastically involved themselves in regulating the conduct playing the game. They intend to make the game more involved in physical and mental health. This is one factor why most Pokemon Go players stopped playing.

"They give us a reason to go outside, walk and socialize," according to co-author Katherine Howe. "So I think there is a huge potential to develop these games to not only increase physical activity but also boost mental well-being, mood and social interaction for people of all ages."
