Samsung Note 7 Latest News & Updates: Samsung Canada Urges Note 7 Users to Refund Or Exchange Their Units
Samsung Canada made an announcement that it is deactivating the service for the remaining Samsung Note 7 devices in the Canada market. The consumers from Canada will be able to return or exchange their Note 7 devices. This will effectively secure nearly 90 percent of the devices brought into the market.
According to reports, the Samsung Canada makes it mandatory for the owners to surrender their Samsung Note 7. However, this did not come as a surprise as the Australian carriers have been doing it already. The devices that will be taken back will not operate any longer as smartphones and will be downgraded to being offline notepads, media players and mirrors, reported Slash Gear.
All the functions of the device as a smartphone will be limited and there will be a battery charge limitation around 60 percent in the Samsung Note 7. Also, the Bluetooth and Wi-fi will also be disabled. There are reports that this takes effect as early as Dec. 12, 2016 and effective Dec. 15, users will not be able to connect to any Canadian mobile networks to use date, make calls and send text messages.
Samsung has already made strong announcements and has urged the users who are still using the Samsung Note 7 to go back to the stores where the device was purchased between Dec. 7 and Dec. 15 to make a refund or exchange units. The users have also been informed about the network deactivation, reported Newswire.
If the users/owners have the idea of giving away or selling the Samsung Note 7, the company has notified that such actions will be deemed illegal. Anyone who tries to do that will have to face legal consequences. "As a recalled product, Note7 device owners are legally prohibited from selling or even giving away the recalled device. We would like to remind customers that they need to return their Note7 device," says Samsung.
