Beyoncé embraced her country music roots when she performed as the opening act at the 2016 Country Music Awards (CMA), which celebrated its 50th anniversary. The R&B superstar shared the stage with country trio the Dixie Chicks. Beyoncé's song "Daddy Lesson" off her album "Lemonade" was her performance piece.

Beyoncé joins other pop stars who took the CMA stage that includes Justin Timberlake who was part of the 2015 CMA wherein he sang with Southern rock and country star Chris Stapleton.

Rumors that Beyoncé would be part of the 2016 CMA circulated early Wednesday after she was seen around Nashville, Tennessee. Few hours before the show, "Good Morning America" confirmed the presence of Beyoncé on social media site Twitter.

Beyoncé teamed up with the Dixie Chicks to deliver the latter's "Long Time Gone." Back in 2015, Timberlake and Chris Stapleton presented a country-soul collaboration that delivered versions of the former's "Drink You Away" and the latter's "Tennessee Whiskey."

According to Billboard, Beyoncé offered a more playful takeover of "Lemonade" compared to the moving presentation at the MTV Video Music Awards. The Dixies played as a backup to Beyoncé. A rapturous ovation was given by the crowd following their musical presentation.

The night also saw the musicality of several country music artists including Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, Tim McGraw and Kacey Musgraves. Co-hosts for the night were Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisely.
