Hidden Easter Eggs You Might Have Missed from The Walking Dead Season 7 Premiere

The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere has shaken every fan's mind last Sunday, October 23rd. The show picked up right where it left off from the last episode of season 6. Rick Grime's (Andrew Lincoln) crew has been surrounded by the Saviors in the woods on their way to the Hilltop to bring a very sick, pregnant Maggie (Lauren Cohan).

Unfortunately for Rick's group of survivors, the Saviors had other plans. They were set up to meet the big bad Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), who is said to be the biggest, most evil villain the show has ever seen. The speculations of whom have Negan killed has been one of the biggest questions throughout the show's 6-month hiatus.

Fortunately for the fans, the show came back with a bang (or a loud thud in the skull). About 20 minutes into the premiere, fans were shocked and devastated to see that not only one but two of Rick's crew got "Lucilled" (i.e, beaten to a pulp with a baseball bat covered with a barbed wire).

With all that said, it was one hell of an episode that brought out every emotion from each and every fan in the world. While everyone was focused on the deaths and the storylines, we have looked for the tiny little details that fans might have missed. Every now and then, the show writers will put in little "Easter eggs" in the episode just to see if anyone would notice.

Check them out below.

Abraham and Sasha's peace sign

Throughout last season, Sgt. Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz) and Sasha Williams'(Sonequa Martin-Green) love story slowly unfolded. The international peace sign seemed to be one of their things or their way of saying that everything's okay. Right before Abraham was about to get whacked in the head by Negan, he was ready to take the blow and was able to give Sasha one last peace sign before he got smashed into a pulp.

"Right-hand man"

The show opened with Negan telling Rick about his right-hand man, and how crucial it is to have one. As fans of the comic series might recall, Rick has lost his right hand (thanks to the Governor, remember him?). A lot of speculations have also thought that this statement would lead to Negan cutting Rick's right hand with his very own ax. Thankfully, that did not happen.

Photographs

Nearing the end of the episode, fans will see one of Negan's men taking a photograph of Abraham and Glenn's (Steven Yeun) pulpy remains. As fans might remember, Glenn had seen gut-wrenching photographs like this in the 12th episode of season 6 entitled "Not Tomorrow Yet", where Rick's crew had attacked the Saviors compound while everyone in it was asleep.

"The day will come when you won't be"

The title of the episode itself was the biggest Easter egg of them all. As fans might remember, back in the first season of the show, Rick's crew traveled to the Center for Disease Control hoping to find refuge. The group was greeted by the only person left, Dr. Edwin Jenner (Noah Emmerich). The good doctor had lost it and was decided to "opt-out", as he didn't want to live in a world filled with the undead. Dr. Jenner initially planned to include the group on his suicide mission, but Rick had pleaded with him to give them the choice to live. Jenner reluctantly agreed, and Rick said he was grateful for that. What was Jenner's response? He said, "The day will come when you won't be." This is Jenner basically informing Rick that a time will come when he will not be glad he'd left that CDC building to survive.
