Lion Kills Safari Guide In Cecil's Zimbabwe Park
A lion killed safari guide Quinn Swales in Hwange National Park last Monday, according to hngn.
The police spokeswoman Charity Charamba said Quinn Swales was escorting a group of tourists on a walking safari in Hwange National Park, when he spotted fresh lion tracks.
This was the national park where Cecil the lion stayed once. Earlier, Cecil the lion had been killed by a Minnesota dentist out of senseless cruelty, according to cnn.
Swales followed the tracks, said the Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority. He encountered a pride of six lions that had two females, two cubs and two males.
As there were cubs in the pride, the lions became hostile to Swales. Though he managed to scare off most of the lions to protect his group of visitors, one lion called Nxaha suddenly turned and attacked the guide.
He managed to ward off the lion but later died due to injuries during the attack.
"Quinn did everything he could to successfully protect his guests and ensure their safety," the company, Camp Hwange, said on its Facebook page. Fortunatey, no one else was hurt.
Swales was a "fully qualified and experienced" guide, said Camp Hwange, which calls itself a small safari company that conducts a lot of walking tours in the park, covering a wide area of northwestern Zimbabwe.
