LeSean McCoy Claims Chip Kelly ‘got rid of all the black players’ for a Reason
LeSean McCoy's continues to show bitterness toward his former Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly months after his trade to the Buffalo Bills.
In his latest jab, the running back insinuated that Kelly is racist. McCoy told ESPN.com's Mike Rodak that there must be a reason why Kelly let go all of the good black players.
McCoy said, "The relationship was never really great I feel like I always respected him as a coach. I think that's the way he runs his team. He wants the full control. You see how fast he got rid of all the good players. Especially all the good black players. He got rid of them the fastest. That's the truth. There's a reason. ... It's hard to explain with him. But there's a reason he got rid of all the black players -- the good ones -- like that."
When the running back was asked if he thought other players agreed with him, McCoy said, "Other players have talked about," before changing up the subject.
If McCoy thinks Kelly is really a racist, he would need to explain why Kelly signed running back DeMarco Murray and cornerback Byron Maxwell, who are both black. On top of that, five of the Eagles' six draft picks were black players.
In the interview, McCoy also talked about his trade to the Bills, stating that he did not want to move out of Pennsylvania.
"To be honest, I didn't want to come. I really didn't. I was so angry at first. You take a guy who's made his whole name and career in Philadelphia and move him. I didn't know anything about Buffalo, so I didn't want to go. But when you sit back and you really analyze just the good things here, it makes a lot of things better," he said.
The star later added that his experience in Buffalo has been nice. He said the people and the Bills organization have helped him a lot since moving to a new and different environment.
McCoy signed a five-year deal worth $40 million.
